These are your assignments. Due dates are listed on our schedule. Question prompts and additional instructions will be posted during our preparatory discussions.

Essay 1: This essay will respond to Roshani Chokshi’s “Forbidden Fruit.” It will be 2 pages (500 words) long and will include basic research from online sources. (20%)

Essay 2: This essay will respond to Sona Charaipotra’s “Still Star-Crossed.” It will be 3 pages (750 words) long and will include research from the BMCC library and ONE additional creative text (a poem, work of art, or play, ie: Romeo and Juliet. (20%).

Essay 3: This essay will respond to either Lori M. Lee’s “Steel Skin” AND Bladerunner (dir. Ridley Scott). It will be 4 pages (1000 words), and will include research relevant to both sources. (20%).

Essay 4: This essay will respond to another piece of short fiction from A Thousand Beginnings and Endings. The story will be read, discussed, researched, and presented on in small groups. At least one creative work and one peer-reviewed critical work related to the relevant myth will be included in the final essay of 1250-1500 words. (30%).

Google “Notebooks”: This document will be shared with the instructor. Much if not all of your informal writing should be done here. This notebook culminate in a reflective essay at the end of the semester. Attendance and this notebook are two major ways in which your participation, preparation, and progress are measured.  (10%).
